How we calculate and compare.

Methodology reviewed 2026-08-06. Every number should tell you its unit, source type and limitation.

Unit, source, limitation.

Four rules govern every rate published on HeyAskr. They cover where a number comes from, how unlike outputs are compared and where a comparison stops being reliable.

  1. 01

    Live market prices

Crypto market values are requested through the HeyAskr server and may then update from a live market stream while the page is open. A timestamp is displayed with interactive results. Market prices can move between the estimate and a transaction.

  2. 02

    Model catalog rates

The live model catalog is requested from the model gateway used by the workspace. If that source is unavailable, the interface uses a dated fallback catalog so the product remains understandable. Editorial guides describe these values as indicative and should never imply a guaranteed final provider charge.

  3. 03

    Comparing unlike outputs

Text is compared per input and output token. Images are compared per generated image when available. Video is compared per generation, which is how the gateway bills it. Some providers publish per-second rates on their own sites; we do not restate those as HeyAskr rates. Audio may use minutes or characters. We do not combine these into one universal headline rate.

  4. 04

    Usable output

The cheapest first generation may not produce the cheapest finished result. Comparisons should account for retries, duration, resolution, quality settings and the share of outputs that meet the project standard.

Unit by output

compare inside the provider unit

Text and codePER TOKEN · IN / OUT

Input and output are compared separately, never merged into a single rate.

ImagesPER IMAGE

Used where the provider publishes a per-image rate for the model.

VideoPER GENERATION

Billed per generation, not per second. Duration, resolution and audio are variant options on that generation.

Audio and voiceMIN OR CHARACTER

Speech generation and transcription use different provider units.

These units are never combined into one universal headline rate.

Each surface names its source.

The same four rules apply everywhere a rate is shown. This is what each surface is reading from, and what it cannot promise.

Pricing tableCATALOG · LIVE

Model rates come from the catalog. The crypto equivalent is converted with a live market price for the selected asset.

Credit calculatorLIVE ESTIMATE

A live market estimate. Network fees are not deducted, and token capacity shows isolated input or output at the displayed provider rate. Real conversations use both.

Off-ramp comparisonYOUR ASSUMPTIONS

Market value is live. Exchange fee, spread and tax rates are editable assumptions, and the result is a simplified illustration that is not tax advice.
