How credits work

Your balance

In dollars, such as $4.98. Every dollar you pay by crypto or card is a dollar of credit, spent on askr.

Fees

From 9 October 2026 askr adds 5% to what AI usage costs. AI that costs $1.00 is charged $1.05, and every price askr shows has the fee in it. $ASKR holders pay less of it: Holding $ASKR. There is none on crypto or card top-ups: every dollar is a dollar of credit, and askr pays the payment company's cut itself. Paying with any coin has a 1% processing fee of its own, at least $0.05, shown before you pay: Pay with any coin.

What the fee is not added to

A web search, which keeps its own fixed price, and the fixed minimum price of a picture. A top-up, and credits you send to someone. What you buy on Explore, and the $1 to put something there.

Deposit bonus

Hold $ASKR in a linked wallet and every deposit gets a bonus in credits of up to 25%: your share of supply × 100, so 0.1% of supply adds 10% and 0.25% or more adds 25%. Bonus credits are spent first and can never be sent. Holding $ASKR.

Expiry

Credits never expire.

Cashing out

Credits buy AI on askr and what people sell on Explore, and nothing else. They cannot be turned into cash or crypto, and they earn nothing.

What things cost

Each answer costs what the model charges for it, for the words it read and the words it wrote, plus askr's 5% fee. A picture, a clip or a song costs what its model charges for one, plus the same fee. The prices below are what you pay, the fee included. Typical prices at each askr Pro level, from the model at the top of that level on 28 September 2026:

A longer answer, a harder question, a bigger picture or a longer clip costs more. Some models think before they answer; the thinking is charged like the answer, so they can cost more than you expect. Answer length sets how much askr writes. Every model's price, with the fee in it, is on Pricing.

Before and after you send

• askr never guesses a price before you send. What an answer cost shows under it once it is done.
• When askr offers you a choice, such as a 1 minute song or a 5 second clip, the choice says its exact price.
• A web search adds less than $0.01. Memory's notes, askr Pro's choosing and its check on each answer cost you nothing.

When you are charged

• You pay when a model did the work: an answer, a picture, a clip, a sound.
• Stop an answer early and you pay for what was written up to then.
• Nothing is charged when something fails, comes back empty, or is refused under a model's rules.
• Very rarely a model finishes but its answer cannot be read. That is charged, because the work was done: message support and it is put right.

When you run out

1. Nothing runs, nothing is chargedIf a message needs more than your balance, a card in the chat says what it needs and what you have, such as "This needs about $0.40, and your balance is $0.12. Nothing was charged." In a group chat, where money someone added to the chat pays first, it says "You're out of credit, and the chat has none."
2. Tap Add creditsPay by crypto or card. Add credits.
3. Tap Run it nowOnce the credits land, the card offers Run it now, and your message runs.

Under askr Pro, a message your balance cannot cover goes to a lighter model that it can, and Details under the answer says "a lighter model for your balance". The card shows only when nothing fits.

With a model you chose yourself, the card also offers Or pick a cheaper model. In a group chat everyone pays for what they ask: add credit to your own balance, or add money to the chat for everyone. Who pays.

Why Available can dip

When you send, askr sets aside the most that answer could cost, so you never start something you cannot pay for. When the answer is done, only what it really cost is taken and the rest comes straight back. That is why your available balance can dip for a moment while something runs, and dip further for an answer set to Longest, which can write for longer. If nothing is running and the number still looks low, wait a minute and look again.

Which credits go first

Free credits are spent first, then the credits you bought. Free credits come from askr: the $ASKR holder bonus on deposits, credit for feedback the team can use, holder airdrops, or a gift.

On Explore, a purchase spends only credits that could be sent to someone. Credits bought by card, the bonus on a deposit and free credits cannot buy there. Prices on Explore.

Where to see it

• Your balance is at the top of the app and in the menu.
• Settings, Credits lists every top-up and every charge under Activity, with the model, what it cost, and anything your $ASKR took off askr's fee.
• Details, under an answer's More, shows what that answer cost and any free credit it used. When your balance paid for the answer, Details also shows anything your $ASKR took off askr's fee.
