Reviews and comments
Stars and words from people who used something on Explore: who can write one, what its maker can do, and how to report.
Where they are
- An app or a game on Explore has them at the foot of its page there. The star on the bar over the running app leads to them.
- A skill or a framework has them under its text.
- Something that is not on Explore keeps its reviews under the app itself.
- Tiles, featured cards and maker pages show the average, to one place, and the number of reviews.
Write a review
- Use it firstOpen the app, play the game, or install or use the skill or the framework, while you are signed in.
- Pick your starsOne to five.
- Add your wordsIf you like, up to 2,000 characters: what you liked, and what would make it better.
- Tap Post reviewIt shows under your @. Edit changes it, and Delete takes it back.
- One review for each thing. Changing it keeps the same review and marks it edited.
- You cannot review something you made. You can reply to its reviews.
Use it first
Until you have used something, there is no review box, and askr says what to do first.
| What it is | What counts as using it | What askr says until then |
|---|---|---|
| An app | Opening it while signed in, or buying a remix of it | Open it first, then tell people what you think. |
| A game | Playing it while signed in, or buying a remix of it | Play it first, then tell people what you think. |
| A skill or a framework | Copy for your AI or Download .md while signed in, buying an install, Use in a chat, or a run of it | Install it or use it in a chat first, then tell people what you think. |
- Looking at a skill's page, or at its preview, is not installing it.
- What you did signed out does not count, since askr cannot know it was you.
- On an app's page on Explore, tap Open, then come back: the review box is there.
- Comments have no such rule.
Stars
- The average is shown to one place, with a bar for each star and the number of reviews.
- Top rated on Explore lists what has four stars or better from three reviews up.
- In a list ordered by Top rated, things with three reviews or more come first, so one five-star review never beats fifty.
Comments
- Signed in, anyone can comment, up to 1,000 characters: ask something, or say what you made with it.
- Reply answers a comment, and replies sit under the comment they answer.
- Edit and Delete are on your own comments. One you take back that has replies stays as "This comment was taken back."
- The maker's comments and replies are marked Maker.
If you made it
- Reply under a review answers it as the maker, once for each review, up to 1,000 characters. Edit reply changes it, and Delete reply takes it back.
- askr tells you in the app when someone reviews something of yours. A comment sends no note, so look at the page now and then.
- You cannot delete someone else's review. You can report it.
Report
- Report is on every review and comment that is not yours, for a signed-in person, with a reason: it is spam or an ad, it is hateful or harassing, it shares someone's private details, or something else.
- Three reports hide a review or a comment from everyone, and take a review out of the average, until askr's team has looked. The writer of a hidden review still sees it, with a line saying it was reported.
- askr's team can take one down, put it back, or dismiss the reports.
