Put yours on Explore
Keep what you make in your chat, or list it for everyone: what listing costs, whether people may remix it, the safety check, and its picture, words and screenshots.
On this page
Make something first
- An app or a game. In any chat, write @askr build us and the idea: a tracker, a poll, a quiz, a game. Or tap New app on Explore, which opens a fresh chat with those words in the box for you to finish.
- Something big. Ask for a big one and askr offers to build it step by step, up to the most you set. What askr builds can have pictures and sound of its own, a 3D or a physics engine, a save for each player and a world the chat shares. Build something big.
- A game for your chat. In a chat, Invent a game in the + sheet has askr write a game everyone there plays at once. Put it in the Arcade, on its card, puts it on Explore. Games in a chat.
- A skill or a framework. On Explore, tap New skill or New framework. Skills and frameworks on Explore.
- With your own AI. ChatGPT, Claude or an agent of yours can make an app and launch it for you. Make apps with your AI.
- In code of your own. Host a page you wrote, or change an app's code by hand. Write your own app.
Private, or on Explore
When you make something, askr asks Who can find it?
- Keep it in this chat
- Where every app starts. It stays in the chat, and only people with its link can open it. A skill or a framework says Keep it private instead: only you can read it.
- Put it on Explore
- Once it is built and askr's safety check reads it clean, anyone can find it on Explore and open it, with your @ on it. You choose there and then how people may remix it.
You can decide later. Three places put an app on Explore, and each says the price on the button, such as Put it on Explore, $1. Each asks how people may remix it before it lists:
- Its card in the chat, on its newest version.
- The app open in its chat: Put on Explore is at the foot.
- Its page on Explore, under Yours. To get there from the running app, tap About, then Its page on Explore. Until you put it on, only you can see that page.
Only the person who made something can put it on Explore or take it off.
Can people remix it?
Every time something goes on Explore, askr asks Can people remix it? Nothing is picked for you, and the button to list it stays off until you pick one.
- No remixing
- People can open it and play it. Nobody gets a copy or the code. For a skill or a framework: people can read it and use it, and nobody gets a copy of their own to change.
- Free
- Anyone can make a copy of their own, with its code, for nothing.
- A price
- A copy with its code costs what you set, up to $100. You get 80% of each sale.
- With No remixing, your thing has no Remix button and cannot be added to someone else's chat, and its tile and its page say No remixing. Opening and playing stay free for everyone.
- You and the people in the chat it was made in can always copy it, whatever you chose.
- No remixing keeps its code closed even while it is kept to its link and not on Explore.
- Change it later in the same three ways. For an app or a game, the button under Yours on its page, and on the app in its chat, says the choice as it stands, No remixing, Remix $5 or Free to remix, and opens Remixing. For a skill or a framework it is in Prices.
- Take something off Explore and put it back, and askr asks again.
- A copy someone made starts with no choice of its own: its new maker chooses when they put it on Explore.
What listing costs
- $1, once for each thing, the first time it goes on Explore. It comes from your own credits, never a chat's, and your Activity lists it as Put on Explore.
- Taking it off and putting it back costs nothing.
- Nothing is charged if the safety check keeps it out.
- Keeping something private is free.
- If your balance is short, askr says what it costs and what you have. Add credits, then put it on again. It stays at its own link meanwhile.
The safety check
askr reads every version before it hosts it, and something shows on Explore only while its newest version reads clean.
- Refused, never hosted
- Anything that reaches for a crypto wallet, asks for a seed phrase, a private key or a wallet password, sends what people type to another site, or looks like another service's sign-in.
- Hosted, but kept off Explore
- A page that tries to reach the internet, sends people somewhere else or opens new windows, hides code in encoded text, loads styles from another site or a script from anywhere but askr's own engine shelf, asks for a password, or reads cookies.
- A skill or a framework
- Refused when it holds a password, a key or a seed phrase, or tells its reader to ask for one or to send funds to a fixed address.
When something is held back you are told why, and an app stays at its own link. Fix it and put it on again. If three people report something, it comes off Explore until askr's team has looked.
How it reads on Explore
On an app's or a game's page on Explore, under Yours, How it reads on Explore sets what people see.
- Picture
- What its tile shows. Pictures.
- Shelf
- Where it sits: Games, Fun, Social, Tools, Learning, Creative or Productivity.
- What it is
- What it does and who it is for, in your own words, up to 500 characters. Until you write one, askr's own line about the app shows.
A skill or a framework has How it reads on its own page: its title, what it is for and its shelf.
Pictures
Every app, game, skill and framework can wear one picture. Without one, its tile shows its shelf's symbol on a colour of its own.
- Upload
- Pick a JPEG, a PNG, a WebP or a GIF. askr keeps its middle square.
- Make one with askr
- askr paints one from the name and what it is. Add a few words under What should it show if you want. Make as many as you like, then pick the one you want. They stay in your Library.
- Remove
- Takes the picture off, and the tile shows its shelf's symbol again.
- The first one is free. The first picture askr makes for something that is on Explore costs nothing, and the button says Make a picture, free. After that each one costs what a picture costs, under 10 cents, and the editor says the most it can be before you make it.
- An uploaded picture is looked at before it shows. askr refuses nudity, gore, hate symbols, a look-alike of a well-known company's, wallet's or app's logo, a QR code, and an address, a phone number or an email written out, and says why. If the picture cannot be looked at, it is not kept: try again, or have askr make one.
- Painting a picture takes up to a minute.
Screenshots
askr takes a picture of an app or a game by itself. Nobody is asked to do anything.
- Open your app while it is on Explore and you are signed in. A few seconds in, it draws a picture of itself as it looks, and askr keeps it for that version.
- The picture shows on its page on Explore, on its card when it is Featured, and in the preview when someone pastes its link.
- A new version gets a new picture the next time you open it.
- If no picture comes, open the app once in another browser: some browsers do not let an app draw itself.
- Something an AI agent made gets its picture when the person who claimed the agent opens it.
- askr looks at each screenshot before it shows, and askr's team can take one off. One taken off stays off until the app has a new version.
- Skills and frameworks are words, so they have none.
New versions
- Change an app by asking: open it in its chat and tap Ask askr to change it. Each change is a new version, and people who open the app get the newest.
- For something bigger, tap Keep building: say what to add and set the most it may spend, and askr builds it step by step. Build something big.
- Or change the code yourself in the Code tab, and say what is new in a line before you save.
- Its page on Explore says New in version, with the number, the date and that line.
- Every version is read by the safety check, and the app shows on Explore only while its newest version reads clean.
- A new version of a skill or a framework is told to the people who installed it.
Take it off
Take off Explore, on its page under Yours or on the app in its chat, takes it out at once. An app's own link still opens it. A skill or a framework is private again, and only you can read it. Putting either back is free.
