What is listed
A collab is a chat with other people in it. Every collab that is public and still open is on Explore, with what its creator says about it. An askr Anon chat is never listed. askr Community, askr's own room, is pinned first.
A community's tile shows:
- Its name, and the @ of the person who started it.
- Its creator's line about it, when they wrote one.
- How many people are in it and how many wrote in it this week, such as "12 people, 5 wrote this week". A collab with all 100 seats taken says full.
- Its level and its topics, such as "Newbie. AI, Coding".
Tap a tile and the collab opens for you to read. Join is there.
Find one
- On Explore, tap the Communities chip, or See all beside the Communities row.
- Topic. One of AI, Coding, Design, Writing, Business, Trading, Crypto, Learning, Gaming, Music, Video, Art, Productivity or Social.
- Level. Newbie, Intermediate or Advanced. A collab with no level is for everyone.
- Search. Two letters or more. It reads a collab's name, its creator's line about it and their @.
- Order. Most active puts the collabs with the most people writing this week first, Newest the ones that went on Explore last, and Biggest the ones with the most people in them.
- The list shows 24 at a time, with More for the next ones.
- What you asked for stays in the address, so you can send a topic or a search to someone as a link.
- A search of all of Explore shows the communities that match under its results.
Join one
- Anyone can read a public collab, signed in or not. People who only read never pay and cannot write.
- Tap Join to take part: with an askr account, or as a guest with just a name. A collab holds up to 100 people.
- Asking askr there is paid the way its creator set: by each person from their own balance, by the collab's credit, or by the collab's credit up to a daily limit for each person. The collab's sheet says which.
- A guest has no balance, so a guest can ask askr only where its creator lets guests ask, and the collab's credit or a holder powering it pays for them.
- You can leave whenever you like.
Make yours public
- Open the collab and tap Invite people to joinThe collab's sheet opens. Only the person who started the collab can make it public.
- Turn on PublicMake this Collab public? opens. Read it first: nothing changes until you tap Make it public.
- Check what public meansAnyone can find it on Explore and join. Anyone can read everything written in it, what is already there included, signed in or not. People who join can ask askr.
- Choose who paysEach person, This chat or Up to a limit. It starts on Each person, the safe side. Who pays in a public collab.
- Say how it reads on ExploreIts name, a line about it of up to 140 characters, up to three topics, and a level: Everyone, Newbie, Intermediate or Advanced. Anyone can read the line, so askr does not take an email address, a wallet address or a transaction hash in it.
- Tap Make it publicIt is on Explore at once. Keep it private closes the sheet and changes nothing.
Who pays in a public collab
Anyone can join a public collab, so who pays is yours to choose before it goes public, and to change afterwards.
- Each person
- Where it starts. Everyone's lines run on their own balance. Nobody who joins can spend the collab's credit or yours. Guests cannot ask askr, since they have no balance to pay from.
- This chat
- The collab's credit pays for every line, whoever asks. Anyone who joins can spend all of it.
- Up to a limit
- The collab's credit pays up to $1, $5 or $10 a day for each person, starting at $1. Past that, their lines run on their own balance.
- Guests can ask askr
- Off to start. You can turn it on only while the collab's credit pays. Then the collab's credit pays for what guests ask.
- Nobody else can spend your balance in a public collab. It is never topped up from your balance. Where each person pays for their own messages, yours run on your balance like everyone's. Anyone in the collab with an account can add to its credit, and where that credit pays and runs out, askr stops answering there until someone adds more.
- In a private chat, Cover this chat from my balance lets your balance top the chat up when its credit runs short. While a collab is public that switch is off and locked, whatever it was set to before. Make the collab private again and it works as it did.
- Add to a collab's credit in its sheet, under This chat's credit. Who pays in a chat.
After it is public
- The collab's sheet keeps a summary: that it is public and on Explore, who pays, and how it reads there.
- Change who pays and Change how it reads open the same settings again.
- Turn Public off and only people you invite can see it. It leaves Explore, and everyone who joined stays.
- Someone who signs up for askr through your public collab counts as your referral. Send credits and referrals.
If your collab was public already
A collab that was public before Explore listed them is listed too. Nothing about its settings was changed. Its creator reads a notice once at the top of the collab, This Collab is on Explore now, with Check the settings: people who join can ask askr, so check who pays.
Reports, and what askr checks
- A collab's name and its line on Explore are its creator's own words.
- Signed in, anyone but its creator can report how a collab reads on Explore: open its sheet and tap Report it. Nobody in the collab is told who sent a report. To report one message, use the menu beside that message.
- Three reports take a collab off Explore until askr's team has looked. The team can take any collab off Explore, and can put one back.
- A collab the team took off Explore stays public by its link, with everyone in it and its credit as they were, and its creator's sheet says so.
- A collab also leaves Explore when it ends, when it is deleted, or when its creator's account is closed or suspended.
