Change a game together
Everyone in a chat can change a game or an app: suggest a change, vote when there are two ideas, and have the winner built with the name of whoever had the idea on it.
Change it
A game or an app askr made in a chat is there for everyone in it. Its card has Change it for everyone who is in the chat, and what the tap does depends on who you are.
- Signed up
- Say what should change and tap Change it. askr builds it for you as it always did. On a game the box says the price first, with the pictures and sound your words ask for. Or tap Suggest it beside it, and your words go to the chat as an idea instead, which costs nothing.
- A guest
- Someone who joined with only a name. Say what should change and tap Suggest it. Under the box it says where your words go: "It goes on the card as your idea, for the chat to vote on."
A suggestion
A suggestion is free: askr builds nothing and charges nothing for it. It lands in the chat as a line, such as "Sam suggests a change to Penguin Race" with Sam's words, and on the game's or the app's card as an idea with whose it is: Sam's idea, or Your idea on your own screen.
- An idea is 3 to 400 characters.
- You can have three ideas waiting on one game or app, and one game or app holds ten waiting ideas. The same words twice are refused.
- Take it back, on your own waiting idea, removes it.
- Whoever started the chat can take anyone's waiting idea off its card: Take it off.
- The waiting ideas of someone who leaves the chat, or is removed from it, come off by themselves.
- An idea cannot be edited. Take it back and suggest it again.
The vote
One idea waits on the card by itself. When a second arrives, the card becomes a vote, Vote on what askr builds next, with each idea as a choice. A third idea joins it.
- Everyone in the chat has one vote, guests too. Only people who are in the chat now are counted: the vote of someone who left stops counting, and counts again if they come back.
- Tap an idea to vote for it. Tap it again to take your vote back, or tap another idea to move it.
- The card says how many voted, such as "2 voted", and marks the idea ahead In the lead. Votes show on everyone's screen as they land.
- A vote has no timer, and nobody closes it by hand. Build it ends it, and so does taking ideas off until one is left.
Build it
Build it is for people who are signed up. On a lone idea it is there at once. In a vote it shows on the idea in the lead, once someone has voted.
- The tap has askr build the idea as your own change. It is paid like any ask of yours: from the chat's money while it has some, else from your own credit. Who pays.
- On a game each idea's Build it says that idea's own price before you tap, such as Build it, about $0.19. When the idea asks for pictures or sound the figure has them in it, and a line under the ideas says the most it can come to: "Sam's idea: about $0.53 with its pictures and sound, at most $0.59."
- The chat's line then says who is building whose idea, on which model, about what it costs and at most, whose credit pays, and what pictures and sound may be made for it.
- An idea's words never pick the model: it is built on what a change of your own would use. What its words ask for in pictures and sound is in the price you are shown before you tap.
- One idea is built at a time. The ideas that did not win stay on the card, and the chat votes on them again from nothing once that build is done.
- A build that does not come costs nothing, and its idea goes back on the card to wait.
Idea by
Whoever tapped Build it made the version, and whoever had the idea is named beside them. Neither is left off.
- On the card
- A line for each version: "Version 1 by @maya", "Version 2 by @nate, idea by Sam". A member is named by their @ and a guest by the name they typed, which never carries an @. A guest cannot take a name that reads as askr's or as the @ of someone in the chat.
- In the chat
- The line that says the new version is ready names both, such as "version 2 for @nate, idea by Sam".
- On Explore
- A listing's page says who made it and whose ideas were built, under the maker's name: "Made by @maya and @nate, idea by Sam". Only names show there, never an idea's words.
What a guest can do
A guest is someone who joined a chat with only a name. Guests.
| On a game or an app | A guest |
|---|---|
| Suggest a change | Yes. A guest's Change it is always a suggestion. |
| Vote | Yes, one vote, like everyone. |
| Take back their own idea | Yes. |
| Play the game | Yes. Their taps change the game for everyone, as a member's do. |
| Build in a game's shared world | Yes, within a smaller daily allowance than a member's. |
| Sit at a live table | Yes, as a player. |
| Tap Build it, or change it themselves | No. A guest's card has no Build it, and their Change it suggests. |
| Ask for a new game or app, a stronger version, or Keep building | No. |
| Remix it, put it on Explore, or pay for anything | No. |
A guest's own progress in a game stays in the browser they play in. Keep my seat, at the top of the chat, turns a guest into a member with a name and a password, and everything they suggested stays theirs.
What it costs
- Suggesting, voting and taking an idea back cost nothing.
- Change it and Build it cost what a change costs, paid as any ask of whoever tapped is: the build once, each picture or sound it asks for as it is made, and all of it never more than the most shown.
- A guest is never charged for an idea, a vote or a build someone else tapped.
