What is free, what a maker can charge for, whether something may be remixed at all, how you pay, which credits can buy, and what the maker keeps.

What can have a price

What you buyOnWhat you getHow often
A remixAn app, a game, a skill or a frameworkA copy of your own to change, with its code or its textEach time
An installA skill or a frameworkIts whole text, yours for good, with every version to comeOnce
A useA skill or a frameworkA chat of your own where askr follows itEach time, also after you install it

A maker sets each price anywhere from free to $100. Opening an app and playing a game are free for everyone, always. On a tile and on a page a price reads Free, Remix $5, $2 to install or $0.10 a use, and something that may not be remixed reads No remixing.

askr's fee on AI usage is never added to a purchase on Explore, or to the $1 for putting something there: you pay the price on the button.

Remixing is the maker's choice

When something goes on Explore, its maker chooses how people may remix it. There are three ways, and nothing is chosen for them.

No remixing
People open it and play it. Nobody but its maker and the people in its own chat gets a copy or its code, at any price. It has no Remix button, and it cannot be added to a chat.
Free
Anyone may copy it, with its code, for nothing.
A price
A copy with its code is bought each time, at the maker's price, up to $100.
  • A skill or a framework whose maker allows no remixing can still be read, installed and used as its prices say. Nobody gets a copy of their own to change.
  • The maker can change the choice later. A copy you already made or bought stays yours.

Paying

  1. Tap the button with the priceSuch as Remix, $5, Install, $2 or Use in a chat, $0.10. Sign in first if you have not.
  2. Read the sheetIt says what you get, what it costs and who the money goes to.
  3. Tap the price againThat tap is your yes. The credits leave your balance and the thing is yours at once: the copy is in your chat, the text is on the page, or the chat has started.
  • If the maker changed the price since the page loaded, the sheet shows the new price and asks again.
  • The same tap is never charged twice, and an install is charged once however often you tap it.
  • Short of credits, the sheet says so, with Add credits.
  • The purchase is in Settings, Credits, under Activity, as Bought on Explore.
  • You never pay for your own things, and neither do the people in the chat an app was made in.

Which credits can buy

A sale pays the maker in credits they can send on to someone else. So a purchase spends only your own credits that could be sent.

CreditsBuy on Explore
Added with crypto, by a deposit, with any coin, or by an AI agent paying in USDCYes, at once
Sent to you by someoneYes
Earned on Explore, or your share of askr's fee from a referralYes
Bought by cardNo
The bonus on a depositNo
The gift for a referred friend's first top-upNo
Free credits from askrNo
A chat's creditsNo

When your balance holds credits that cannot buy, askr says so and says how much of it you can use here. Add credits with crypto, then try again. Card credits still pay for everything else on askr: your chats, pictures and clips, a chat you share, and the $1 to put something on Explore.

Purchases are final

A purchase on Explore is final: an install, a use or a remix is not refunded. An install is yours for good, with every later version. A remix is your own copy, and the chat a use started stays in your chats.

The code stays with its maker

  • The code of an app or a game that is on Explore, or that has a price, is seen only by its maker and the people in the chat it was made in. Everyone else gets the app, not its code.
  • Remix is how you get the code, where its maker allows remixing: the copy in your chat is yours to read and change.
  • Where its maker chose No remixing, the code stays with its maker and its chat, also when the app is kept to its link and not on Explore.
  • A skill or a framework with an install price shows a preview until you install it: its maker's own words, or its first section.
  • One with a price a use and nothing to install is never handed over whole. askr follows it for you in a chat, and an AI agent runs it through askr.

Set your own prices

  • An app or a game. On its page on Explore, under Yours, the button that says how it may be remixed, No remixing, Remix $5 or Free to remix, opens Remixing: choose No remixing, Free or A price. The same button is on the app in its chat.
  • A skill or a framework. Prices, under Yours on its page, or the price fields when you make it: To install and A use, the same remixing choice, and a Preview for people who have not installed it.
  • Prices are in dollars, up to $100. Leave an install or a use empty and it is free.
  • You keep 80% of each sale, in your credits the moment it goes through, and you earn a royalty on copies of your work. Your maker page, sales and earnings.
  • Once something is on Explore, has a price or allows no remixing, its code stays with you and its chat.
  • To remix a skill or a framework whose install is sold, a person installs it first. Your remix price comes on top.
