Make it together (askr Studio)
Pictures, songs and drawings a whole chat makes together: picture games with a vote, a song of the chat, posters with a reply page, a podcast of your week, and one canvas everyone draws on at once.
Where it is
Tap + by the message box. Under Do something together, Make together, Make together opens a sheet of games and things to make. While a game is on, a chip over the box says where it stands, such as "Prompt Battle, round 1 of 3, entries open", and opens it.
- One game runs in a chat at a time, with one picture bounty beside it.
- You vote by reacting to an entry's message in the chat. One vote for each entry, as many entries as you like, never your own. A tie shares the win.
- Whoever started a game, and the person who started the chat, can Close entries now, Close the vote now and End the game.
- It works in a chat of your own too. It is not offered in askr Anon, in askr Community, or to someone only watching.
Picture games
- Prompt Battle
- A theme, and a minute for everyone to write a prompt. askr draws them all and the chat votes. One to five rounds, on a quick painter or the best one.
- Caption This
- askr paints a picture, everyone captions it in a minute, and the chat votes. Caption this on any picture's card starts one from that picture.
- Guess the Prompt
- askr writes a secret prompt and paints it. Everyone guesses, and the closest guess wins the round. The picture's prompt stays hidden until it is revealed.
- Telephone
- A picture becomes a description, which becomes a picture, around the chat. Each person in turn describes the newest picture in a sentence and askr paints it. At the end the whole chain is shown.
- Friends' arena
- One prompt on three or four picture models. The pictures go up as A, B, C and D with no model on them, the chat votes, and then you see which model made which.
Pictures in a chat
Under a picture someone asked for, a card says who asked, the prompt, the model and what it cost, with ways to carry on. Each one that costs says the most it can cost on the button.
- Again
- The same prompt once more.
- Remix
- Puts the prompt back in the box for you to change. Free until you send.
- Better
- The same prompt on a stronger model.
- Four drafts
- Four quick pictures, then Finish one on the draft you like.
- Group photo
- A photo of everyone, made into action figures, an anime still, a 1980s yearbook page, a band poster, or the format of the week. It works from a photo someone shared in that chat, and whoever asks first ticks that everyone in the photo is in the chat and happy for it to be made into something.
- Event poster
- Say what, when and where, and askr makes the poster in the chat. The event gets a page of its own where anyone replies yes, maybe or no with their name, no account needed. The replies are counted on the poster's card, and whoever made it can Close replies.
- Picture bounty
- Offer credits, from $0.10 to $5, for the best picture to a brief. Everyone else enters one picture they made in the chat, or a prompt askr paints for them. You pick the winner, and only then do the credits move. No pick, no credits.
Songs and sounds
- Song of this chat
- askr writes lyrics from the chat, or from a few lines you pinned first with Quote this, and makes a song that plays in the chat. Typing "@askr make a song of this" opens the same form. The price shows first: the lyrics, then the song.
- On a song's card
- Full song, Another genre, Remix, which lets you change the lyrics, and Send to, which copies the song into another of your chats. Every song shows its family: the first song and everything made from it.
- Vertical video and Karaoke
- Vertical video makes a tall lyric video of the song's first 30 seconds for TikTok and Reels, on your own device, free. Karaoke lights the lines up in turn to sing along.
- Roast battle
- "@askr roast battle @maya vs @sam". Nothing is made until both say yes, and a no, or ten minutes of silence, calls it off. Then askr writes a playful diss track each way, sings both, and the chat votes.
- Name that tune
- askr plays a short instrumental in a secret genre. Name the genre from four choices for a point.
- Finish the verse
- askr writes three lines, everyone writes the last, and the chat votes.
- This week in the room
- A three to four minute podcast of the chat's last seven days, with two hosts in askr's ready-made voices, and its script to read along.
- Song gift
- A song for a friend in the chat, for an occasion and three things about them, with credits attached if you like, from $0.10 to $5. The friend sees the credits in their history with a note saying who the song is from.
- Voice note
- A line from the chat, or your own words, read as a movie trailer, a sports commentator, a nature documentary or the news, in one of askr's ready-made voices.
Draw together
One canvas for the whole chat. Tap +, Load a skill, then Draw together under Make, or type "@askr let's draw a pirate ship". askr starts a canvas, and its card sits under askr's message with Open the canvas.
- Draw
- A pen in eight colours and three sizes, an eraser, and Undo your last line. Everyone's lines arrive as they are drawn, and someone who opens the canvas late gets all of it. Drawing is free.
- Live picture
- Switch it on and askr paints the sketch after each pause in drawing, at most three pictures a minute. The price of a picture shows before you switch it on, and everyone with the canvas open is told who did. It switches itself off after ten minutes with nobody drawing, or when it cannot be paid for.
- Render now and Finish
- Render now makes one picture of the sketch as it is. Finish makes it on a better painter. Each has its price on the button.
- Change it
- Say a change in the canvas's own box, such as "@askr make Sam's jacket red", and the picture everyone sees changes. While the canvas's chip is over the message box, you can say it in the chat too.
- Versions
- Every picture and every change is a version, a tap away under the picture. Anyone in the chat can step back to one, for everyone, and the next change carries on from it. A canvas keeps up to 60.
- Post to chat
- Puts the picture you like into the chat as a picture of its own, with a line naming the people who drew it.
Someone signed in and watching a public chat sees the canvas and its pictures live, and draws nothing. On a phone, a Show switch moves between the sketch and the picture.
What it costs
- Every button that costs says the most it can cost before it runs, and a game says its whole price as it starts.
- Whoever presses pays, as for an @askr message: from the chat's credit, or from their own balance in a chat of their own and where each person pays for their own. Who pays.
- In a game that means its starter, with two exceptions: in Prompt Battle each player pays for their own picture, and in Telephone each person pays for their own turn.
- On the canvas, whoever asks for a picture or a change pays for it, and whoever switched Live picture on pays for the live pictures.
- Credits attached to a song gift and a bounty's prize are a send between two people. Credits bought by card, bonus credits, free credits and a deposit in its first 24 hours cannot be sent, and a guest cannot send.
- Free: drawing, stepping back to a version, posting to the chat, Remix, a vertical video, karaoke and replying to a poster.
- A picture the painter declines, or one that does not come, costs nothing.
