Teams and paid chats
More ways for a group to pay for AI together: one pot behind a team's chats, a chat powered by someone who holds $ASKR, a price or a token at a chat's door, and summaries of a group's proposals.

Start a team
- Open TeamsSigned in, Teams is in the app's menu, after Library. Under Start a team, type a name and tap New team.
- Invite peopleOn the team's page, under People, invite by @ as an Admin, a Member or a Guest. The invite waits on their own Teams page, with Join and No thanks.
- Bring your chats inOpen a chat you started and tap its name. Under Team in the sheet, choose whether it shares the team's memory and tap Bring it in.
- Fill the potOn the team's page, Add by card or crypto, or Send from your balance.
- You can own up to 10 open teams, and a team has up to 100 people. There is no price for each person.
- Only the person who started a chat can bring it into a team. A chat is in one team at a time, and an askr Anon chat cannot join one.
- A team's Guest is someone with an askr account, invited with that role. It is not the same as a guest who joined a chat with only a name.
How the pot pays
- The pot stands behind a chat's own credit. A message in a team's chat is paid from the chat's credit first. When that runs short, and its creator's balance is not covering the chat, the pot pays for the whole message.
- A chat of your own that is in the team runs on your balance first, and on the pot when that runs short.
- The pot pays only for people in the team. Someone in the chat who is not in the team reads "You are not in this team, so its pot does not pay for your lines here."
- Where each person pays for their own messages, the pot is not used. That is where a public chat starts.
- Bringing in a chat that already has other people in it turns Cover this chat from my balance off, so the pot pays when the chat runs short. Turn My balance covers this chat first on as you bring it in to keep your cover.
- A pot holds up to $100. The chat's bill says when the pot paid for a message.
Daily limits on the pot
Each person uses the pot up to a limit a day, set on the team's page under Daily limits on the pot: none, $1, $5, $10 or $20.
- Members
- No limit unless the team sets one.
- Guests
- $1 a day unless the team changes it.
- The owner and admins
- No limit unless one is set for them.
Past your limit a message says You have used today's share of your team's pot. It opens again at 00:00 UTC. When the pot itself cannot cover a message it says Your team's pot is running low. Nothing is charged for either. Error codes.
Filling the pot
- Anyone in the team but a Guest can add to it.
- Add by card or crypto: your next card or crypto top-up goes into the pot. The choice lasts three hours, and Never mind takes it back.
- Send from your balance: from $0.10 to $5 at a time, up to $20 a day across pots. Credits bought by card, bonus credits and a deposit in its first 24 hours cannot be sent.
- What nobody spends goes back to the people who put it in, in proportion, when they leave or the team closes. What went in by card comes back as card credits.
The team's page
- Spending
- What the pot took in, paid for and gave back, and what the pot and the team's chats spent, by chat and by person, over a day, a week, 30 or 90 days. Guests do not see it.
- Memory
- The team's chats share one memory: what askr learns in one is there in the others. Turn Shares the team's memory off for a chat and it keeps its own. A public chat always keeps its own.
- Proposals
- Paste a proposal and tap Summarise. askr writes what it asks, the money in it, who it affects, the risks and the questions to ask, for the whole team to read. It is paid from your own balance, like an answer, and askr never moves money because of what a proposal says.
- Leaving and closing
- Leave the team gives back your share of what the pot has free. Close the team, for its owner, gives everyone's share back, and its chats leave the team and stay as they are.
A chat powered by a holder
Anyone in a chat whose linked wallet holds $ASKR can power it. Their own balance then pays for everyone else's messages there, ahead of the chat's own credit, up to a cap a day that they pick: $1, $5, $10 or $20. No team is needed.
- In the chat's sheet, under Power this chat, pick The most your balance pays here a day and tap Power this chat.
- The chat is told, the top of the chat says powered by with their @, and the bill marks each message they paid for.
- Their own messages are paid as usual. Nothing is sent to anyone, and nothing moves into the chat's credit.
- Once the day's cap is used, messages are paid as the chat's settings say until 00:00 UTC. There is a cap for each day and none in all: it pays every day until it is stopped.
- Stop powering this chat ends it at once, and the person who started the chat can stop it too. It also pays for nothing while the wallet holds no $ASKR, or once the holder has left the chat.
- A public chat can be joined by anyone, so a holder says yes to that first. The sheet says that anyone who joins can run messages on their balance, people they do not know and guests with only a name too, and the cap starts at $1 a day. A chat powered while it was private pays for nobody once it goes public, until its holder taps Power it as a public collab.
A price for newcomers
The person who started a chat can charge newcomers for a place, under Price for newcomers in the sheet.
- Entry, paid once
- A place for good: $0.50, $1, $2 or $5.
- A pass for some days
- A place for 1, 7 or 30 days, at the same prices. When your pass ends, you can still read the chat and cannot ask askr there until you buy another.
- The price shows before anyone joins: on an invite, on a public chat's Join, and on the card an invite link opens. A chat with a price offers no guest seat.
- Paying is a send from your balance to the person who started the chat, and it shows in both people's history. Credits bought by card, bonus credits and a deposit in its first 24 hours cannot pay.
- Everyone already in when a price is set stays in for nothing, and so does anyone the creator invites by @. Someone invited by another member pays.
- If the price changed after you saw it, nothing is charged and the new price is shown.
- The creator also gets 5% of what other people spend there from their own balance, up to $1 a day, paid by askr as credits to spend on askr and not to send. Messages that the chat's credit, a pot or a holder paid for do not count.
A chat for holders of a token
Under For holders of a token, the person who started a chat can let in only people whose linked wallet holds at least a set amount of a token: $ASKR, or another token on Robinhood Chain that askr can price.
- The wallet is read from the chain at the door, and again about once a day for the people in the chat.
- Someone whose holding falls under the least can still read the chat and cannot ask askr there. Read my wallet again checks at once.
- The gate can also set what the chat's credit pays for each person a day: no limit, $1, $5 or $10. Past it, their messages run on their own balance.
- The chat is told when a gate is set, changed or taken off.
