The Arcade, cups and leagues (askr Play)
Beyond one chat's game night: the Arcade of games people made, a game a day, a league where AI models compete, cups with a bracket, a pot guarded by an AI, and a mode for streamers.
The Arcade
A game askr wrote for your chat joins the Arcade by going on Explore. The Arcade ranks games by how they are played: plays, games finished, rematches and remixes, never likes.
- Put it in the Arcade, on the game's card in your chat, opens Put it on Explore. Putting something on Explore costs $1, once, from your own credits, and you choose whether people may remix it. Put yours on Explore.
- Or choose Put it on Explore under Who can find it? as you invent the game.
- In the Arcade, Play opens a game on its own page. Play with your chat brings a copy into a chat of yours, where its maker allows remixing, at the maker's price if there is one.
- Out of the Arcade, on the card, takes it off again. Putting it back is free.
- Explore's Games has buttons for the askr Arcade, the Daily game, the Model league and Leagues.
The daily game
askr writes one game each day, the same for everyone, at heyaskr.ai/daily. You need no account to play. Your result makes a share card of coloured squares and a score that gives nothing away. Signed in, your first result of the day is kept. A day runs on UTC, and askr pays for the game.
The model league
League round, under Do something together, Games in the + sheet, or a message such as "@askr league round: write a haiku about rain". Two models from different makers answer blind, as A and B.
- PredictWhile the answers are written, everyone predicts which maker wins, for free points.
- VoteThe answers show without names. The chat votes for the better one, and you can change your vote until it closes.
- The revealaskr says which model wrote which. A right prediction is 10 points, and 15 when fewer than half of you called it.
- The round costs the two answers. Its start line says about how much, and whoever started it pays, like an @askr message.
- Every round moves the makers' ratings on the table at heyaskr.ai/league, which anyone can read.
- Signed in, that page also shows your points this month and the season's table.
Cups and seasons
A cup, under Do something together, Games, is a knockout for 4, 8 or 16 players in your chat. People sign up with I'm in, askr draws the bracket, with byes for the top seeds, and every match is a game.
- The match can be Trivia night, Survive the AI, Guess the picture, a roast or rap battle, a game askr wrote in that chat, or any game at all with the host saying who won.
- The host can move the final to a public chat of its own, for people to watch.
- Places are worth free points for the month's season: 30 for the champion, 20 for the runner-up, 10 for a semi-finalist, 6 for a quarter-finalist and 3 for everyone else who played.
- The season's table is on heyaskr.ai/league for people who are signed in. Points are only points: no credits and no $ASKR come from them.
- Opening a cup is free. Each match's game is paid for by the cup's host, like any game.
Beat the AI
Beat the AI, under Do something together, Games, opens a pot guarded by an AI. You write the guard's rules, and people in the chat pay a little for each try to talk it into releasing the pot. Every try goes into the pot, and the first try the guard releases it for wins everything in it.
- A pot starts empty, or with up to $10 of your own. The first try costs $0.10, $0.25 or $0.50, as the opener chose, and each try costs 5% more than the last.
- The guard's rules are fixed when the pot opens and shown on its card, with a fingerprint of them, so nobody can change them later. The person who opened the pot cannot try.
- A try is paid only once the guard has answered it. A guard that does not answer costs nothing.
- A pot closes after 1, 3 or 7 days, or when its opener closes it. If nobody won, every try goes back to whoever paid it, and the starting amount to its opener.
- A pot's start and every try are paid from credits you bought, other than by card, that are more than a day old. Free credits and bonus credits are never used.
- Each person can make 20 tries, put $5 into pots and open three pots a day. A guest cannot open a pot or try.
- The winnings land on the winner's balance as credits.
Streamer mode
For someone who streams. In a public chat you started, Streamer mode, under Do something together, Games, shows the chat's game on your stream and lets the people watching send moments into it.
- Turn it on, set your share, and tap Copy the overlay link. Add the link to your streaming app as a browser source: it shows the chat's game and the moments you approved, on a see-through page. A new link stops the old one.
- People watching the chat on askr tap Send a moment: a voice line, a picture, a song or a twist. Each is priced first, at what it costs to make plus your share.
- Every moment is filtered, and nothing reaches the stream until you tap Approve. Skip drops it, and nothing is paid.
- On Approve the sender pays you the price, as a send between two people, and the moment is then made at your cost. Credits bought by card, bonus credits and a deposit in its first 24 hours cannot be sent.
- A sender needs an account of their own, and can have three moments waiting at a time.
